Sakura of Chidori-ga-fuchi Moat

The boat ride at Chidori-ga-fuchi Moat was not much leisure around. At the time, there was no Sakura tree alongside the Moat.

Sakura trees were planted after 1950. Chiyoda city office presented 200 sakura trees, and they were planted by hand even on the bank slope one by one. Nowadays, it has become famous for its over 40 kinds Sakura in downtown Chiyoda city.

Those beloved Sakura trees grow old over 5 decades. Also the environmental changes greatly the growth of the trees. 

“Sakura supporter” was formed in 2004, and supporters have been actively addressing variety Before winter comes, Sakura trees at Chidori-ga-fuchi Moat are pruned off dead branches.
